Delhi March 6: Athletics Federation of India will be conducting a seminar for all Chief Coaches of the State units/Boards on 13th and 14th March, 2010 at New Delhi. The two days seminar will apprise them about policies and programmes of AFI. The seminar will be inaugurated by Dr. Lalit K. Bhanot. The other prominent resource persons will be Sh. J.S. Saini, Advisor AFI, Sh. Bahadur Singh, Chief National Coach, AFI, Dr. Rajdeep Kaur, SAI, Dr. Vladimir Kravchenko, Foreign Recovery expert, Sh. Rajinder Singh, Chief Coach Juniors, Dr. Manilal, SAI, Dr. Arun Mehndirata, AFI and C.K.Valson, Chairman, Technical Committee, AFI. All the Chief coaches are advised to report on 12th March in the afternoon at Hotel City Continental, Near China Market, Karol Bagh, New Delhi
Delhi March 2: Athletics Federation of India will be conducting Technical Officials Examination for Female Technical Officials for the forth coming Commonwealth Games. The Examination will be held on 18th April, 2010. Prior to this one day seminar will be held on 17th April, 2010. All State units can forward three names by 12th April, 2010 along with a Draft amounting 1000/ (each candidate) in favour of Athletics Federation of India. The eligible candidates must have represented Country/State/University in Athletics Championship or must have cleared FTO/FSTO. The passing marks will be 75 % . The maximum of two officials from each unit will be selected if they fall in first 25 candidates. However third official can also qualify if she scores among first 25 candidates and has scored more than 80 % marks.
Tehran, Iran 26 February : Indian shot putter Satyendra Kumar Singh exhibited an excellent performance as he set the iron ball out to a career best and meet record shattering 19.17m effort to win the gold on the second day of Asian Indoor championships at Tehran on 25th February, 2010. Delhi February 25: The Indian athletics team comprising of eleven women athletes (400x4 m Relay & Discus throw) and five officials returned back from Kuala Lumpur. The athletes were trained at International Associations of Athletics federation’s accredited High Performance training Centre. The training was done at main Stadium of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was a four week preparatory camp and it has significantly given an advantage to fitness level of the athletes.
Delhi February 22: The Annual General Body Meeting was held at Heritage village, Manesar, New Gurgaon on 13th and 14th February. Dr. Lalit K. Bhanot thanked all the members of AFI for sparing their valuable time for attending the meeting which aimed for the growth of Athletics in the country. He also mentioned that many State Units are doing nice work for the development of Athletics. The meeting lasted for more than 16 hours. All the media persons were invited and many of them attended the meeting.
1. Mr. Adile Sumariwala was authorised to frame all the guidelines to conduct marathons in the country. The house appreciated this decision as it will help in conducting of marathons in organised manner. This will also help the federation to get more revenue and that will be utilised for the development of Athletics in country.
2. The other prominent decision was taken to grade the Indian athletes into three categories on the basis of their present performance. The facilities to the athletes will be provided as per the grading.
3. The AFI also took a serious decision for the Districts who are not participating in the National Inter District Athletics Championships. All these districts will be disaffiliated from their respective States.
4. AFI will be starting an online entry system from this year. This is going to streamline the organisation of National Meets.
Delhi February 16: Athletics Federation of India released its Annual Athletics Calendar after consulting from all the units during the Annual General Body Meeting held at Manesar on 13th and 14th February. The Calendar will begin with National Youth Athletics Championships scheduled to be held at Coimbatore from 23rd to 25th April, 2010. During this meet selection of Indian athletics team for the participation to Youth Olympics will be done.
Delhi February 11: Dr. Lalit K. Bhanot released the upgraded Competition Manual here today. The AFI Competition Manual has all the guidelines that are necessary for conducting any National Athletics Championship in the country.
Delhi February10: Annual General Meeting of the Athletics Federation of India will be held on 13th & 14th February, 2010 at Heritage Village, NH-8, Manesar, New Gurgaon.
Delhi February 4: Athletic events of the South Asian Games will begin on 6th February at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka. A strong contingent of 29 Male and 15 Female Athletes will be representing country in the four days meet. For online results click here
