Jamshedpur, 2 Sep: Tamilnadu retained
the overall championship of the 20th National Interzone Athletics
Championship with massive 23 gold medals while Uttar Pradesh and Haryana
finished on second and place respectively. Total of 9 new national
records and 5 meet records were set during the championship.

Kumar of Kerala set new record in Octathlon with 5458 points while Umesh
Kumar Yadav of UP cleared 4.25m to raise pole vault National record. Two
new national records were set in Hammer throw discipline, first came
from rising talented junior from Allahabad Ejaj Ahamd ( boys-18)
with a throw of 70.79m and Kanika Kumar ( girls-18) of Haryana hurled
the ball to 50.46m.

Jamshedpur, 1 Sep: Anil Soren of West
Bengal created a new national record in the 110m Hurdles Boys 18 group.
He clocked 14.12s followed by Saba Bhagat of Maharashtra who also
bettered the national record with the timing of 14.17s. Ankit Sharma of
Madhya Pradesh created a new national record in the Long Jump for Boys
under 18 years with a jump of 7.35m on the opening day of the 20th
National Inter Zonal Athletics Meet at Jamshedpur. Parveen Kumar of
Haryana set new meet record in the 400m for under 20 years with an
impressive timing of 47.74s.
